Derek Glanz, a Harvard graduate, researches political psychology and comparative civil wars as a Ph.D. student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He edited the travel guide Let’s Go: Spain and Portugal Including Morocco and has written for MLB.com, the Associated Press, Baseball America, St. Louis Cardinals’ Gameday Magazine, and Let’s Go: Australia. Currently, Derek serves as a researcher and archivist for the Southern Governors Association, freelance copywriter for the University of North Carolina Press and editor of Globic Press. He also teaches U.S. politics and comparative politics at UNC. Derek was a visiting scholar at the University of the Andes and the Institute for Political and International Studies (IEPRI) at the Universidad Nacional in Bogota, Colombia. Prior to entering graduate school, Derek served as a policy consultant to former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich during the 2002 Massachusetts gubernatorial campaign.
